Mughal Tunic Series

I have made several visits to India and have travelled North to South, East to West. I have also visited Nepal. On every occasion I have searched for and bought papers.

The papers used in the Mughal Tunics series took five years to collect. It is impossible to have a plan – I buy them when I see them.

The series was inspired by my appreciation of the beautiful tunics worn by the Mughals – collections to be found in the Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

I bought a tunic from an auction house in the UK and used it to make a pattern which was the basic shape for the series. I love the very full skirt and the overlong tight sleeves.
